About the property:
Abbotsford was formerly a summer residence of Sir Jwala Prasada, who served in the Imperial Civil Services before Independence and his wife Purnima Devi nee Sudakshina Tagore niece of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The house was passed on to their son Kunwar Jyoti Prasada and wife - Hon'ble Princess Pamela Singh of Kapurthala, further on to their third generation Kunwar Jitendra Prasada, a veteran Indian National Congress Leader, his wife Smt. Kanta Prasada from Himachal Pradesh and now to their children Kunwar Jitin Prasada, Member of Parliament, India and his sister Kumari Janhavi Prasada. Built in 1876 the property was called "Abbotsford Lodge" owned by an Englishman, John Hope Simpson, Esquire of the Indian Civil Service in the erstwhile United Province of Agra and Oudh. Bought in 1903 by the Prasada's it was rechristened “Prasada We bring to you “Abbotsford” – Prasada Bhawan – reinvented! An edifice replete with a grand historical past that still stands the film maker and a peace educator. Bhawan”. The fourth generations of the Prasada’s carry on the rich legacy of the past test of time for your pleasure only.Interiors are a taste full mix of high wooden ceilings; tinned roof and pinewood flooring that give the perfect feel of the classic mountain house. Decorating the halls and catching the eye of the visitor are the many fascinating art deco items that reflect the exotic and sophisticated taste of it’s owners from different times. Antiquarian items from different ages and different parts of the world adorn the house, like Italian marble busts, garden statues, Afghani and Jail carpets, wedge wood plate hangings, swords, muskets and much more.
The Kings Room is large spacious bedroom with a fire place, a bay window overlooking the mountains and like all the rooms in Abbotsford this room get the first rays of the morning sun! The gold n blue hues of the textured wall and the concave wooden roof makes this room very old world.There is a stairway leading via the Rose Dining Hall that leads to the Kings Room.

The Princess Suite is large spacious bedroom with a en suite reading room. It has a bay window and like all the rooms in Abbotsford this room get the first rays of the morning sun!
