About the property:
The thrill of unearthing the Dutch secrets, the joy of staying close to a beach and the freedom of breathing in fresh ‘ozone’ air are some of the highlights of the Gate House in Tharangambadi. It’s a heritage hotel that’s always eager to offer you unique experiences. You may want to travel a few centuries back and relive those traditional times in those old palaces – the red-tiled roofs, pillared courtyards and wooden stairways. Well, allow the Gate House Heritage Hotel to fulfil your fantasy. The rooms at the Gate House have individual ideas behind them, such as Darasuram was named after the temple town famous for the Airavateswara temple built by Rajaraja Chola in the 12th century, while Srirangam is named after the temple town of Srirangam in Tamil Nadu. The furnishings and décor in each room is very Indian, classy and elegant. You won’t find anything begging for your attention blatantly, but it would be hard not to notice them either! So, savour the charming heritage around you. Once in a while, take a dip in the swimming pool at the Gate House or you can also walk towards the beach anytime. Don’t forget to take the exhilarating boat rides that should give you a chance to have a sneak peek into the lives of fishermen. Bird-watchers shouldn’t miss the Uppanar River that’s not too far from the Gate House.Of course, you shouldn’t be too complacent yet, for you can frequent places like Masilamani Nathar Temple, the Governor's Bungalow, Dansborg Archaeological Museum and Dansborg Fort for a whopping dose of history.
