About the property:
Take a deep breath. Let the silence settle in. Feel your soul start to exhale.
At The Orchard Oasis, breathe in the stillness and be renewed by the breathtaking beauty of this Himalayan retreat. Nestled in the majestic hills of Kumaon, at 7,500 feet above sea level in the quiet town of Mukteshwar, this more-than-a-century-old heritage cottage is surrounded by terraced orchards of apples, apricots, peaches, and walnuts. It’s like stepping back in time—simple, slow, and full of charm. The peaceful atmosphere echoes the beauty of the English countryside, with a distinctly Himalayan soul.
To reach the cottage, guests take a gentle 700-meter walk downhill through fragrant pine forests—an introduction to the calm that defines this place. Once there, they can relax in a cozy outdoor sitting area, taking in sweeping views of valleys below, mountains stretching to the horizon, and sunsets that light up the sky in hues of gold and crimson. Early risers are treated to a chorus of birdsong from the surrounding forest. Jays, swallows, thrushes, magpies, woodpeckers, and the cheerful Himalayan bulbul can often be spotted. Even for those who aren’t birdwatchers, the morning ambiance is truly magical.
The garden is another tranquil spot, where wild herbs like rosemary, thyme, and oregano grow freely, filling the air with their fresh, earthy scent. These herbs are often used in the food prepared by the hosts, making each meal a true sensory delight.
The Orchard Oasis offers two distinctive accommodations—the main bungalow and a secluded Mud House—each providing a unique experience. The bungalow features three cozy rooms, each with rustic-modern interiors, wooden touches, and old fireplaces. It’s perfect for couples, solo travelers, or small families, with one spacious garden-view suite ideal for those working remotely or simply desiring more room to unwind. For a more secluded retreat, the Mud House, tucked deeper in the orchard, offers a peaceful, off-grid experience. Surrounded by nature, it includes a queen bed, a study table, and a private kitchen, making it an ideal choice for longer stays, creative escapes, or those seeking inspiration.
Guests can unwind in the garden with mountain views, curl up by the indoor fireplace, or enjoy a quiet afternoon with a book or a game. In season, the orchard invites guests to pluck fresh fruit right from the trees. Bonfires can also be arranged on request.
Meals at The Orchard Oasis are an integral part of the experience. The in-house cook prepares fresh, seasonal dishes with local Kumaoni flavors, available à la carte. Guests with dietary preferences or specific needs are encouraged to notify the team in advance. While guests in the bungalow enjoy hosted meals, the Mud House comes with its own private kitchen for those who wish to cook.
For those wanting to explore, there’s much to see and do nearby. The Himalayan View Point (1.5 km), the Mukteshwar Dham Temple (1 km), and the cliffside beauty of Chauli Ki Jali (1 km) are just a short walk away. Adventure seekers can try ziplining and rappelling at Chauli Ki Jali. Further adventures include visits to Bhalugaad Waterfalls (14 km), Devasthal Observatory (19 km), Kainchi Dham Ashram (45 km), and Kasar Devi Temple (51 km).
