What to know before you go?

- Nestled among towering deodar trees and vibrant orchards bursting with plums, pears, and apples, this tranquil homestay is just a 5-minute walk from the Tirthan river, offering breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas.

- While staying there, you can trek scenic trails, go birdwatching, enjoy peaceful nature walks, try trout fishing in clear mountain streams, cross rivers, or relax with a picnic in lush meadows. The area offers a variety of outdoor activities for every kind of explorer.

- The Forest Edge is your invitation to pause—no screens, no distractions. Just starry nights, riverside mornings, crackling fires, and time to truly reconnect.

What we love:

- We’re absolutely hooked to the homemade artisanal ice creams and decadent desserts, made with fresh, handpicked fruits from their very own garden. It’s farm-to-table indulgence at its sweetest!

- Curling up with a hot cuppa and a good book from the library by the Tirthan River. The gentle murmur of the water, a captivating read, and the crisp mountain breeze - it's our idea of the perfect pause

About the property:

After over two decades in the corporate world, Ajay Singh left the hustle behind to embrace the peace of the mountains, trading deadlines for dawns. Tanu Shree Singh, a Professor, writer, and storyteller, is driven by her love for books and inspiring young minds, finding joy in sharing stories amidst the serenity of the mountains.

Together, they brought to life The Forest Edge - an intimate boutique retreat nestled at the edge of the forest, offering a sanctuary for like-minded souls to gather, reflect, and connect. The soothing sounds of the Tirthan River accompany you at every turn, deepening the sense of calm. Built in traditional Himachali style, The Forest Edge blends rustic charm with modern comforts. With 10 uniquely designed rooms inspired by timeless books and literary characters, the experience is unlike any other. Offering 8 double-occupancy rooms, a cozy family cottage, and a spacious attic room for four, there’s a perfect retreat for every guest. Each room is named after literary classics -Calvin & Hobbes, Tintin, Asterix, The Rabbit Hole, Bag End, St. Mary Mead, and even the mysterious “a room that shall not be named.” The traditional mud-plastered walls naturally regulate the room temperature, ensuring comfort in all seasons. Surrounded by lush orchards full of plums, pears, and apples, The Forest Edge is the epitome of peaceful beauty. Every room features a private balcony or patio, ideal for unwinding while taking in the stunning surroundings. During colder months, guests can unwind by a traditional bukhari fireplace, with electric blankets to stay warm. Book lovers can enjoy the extensive library or take their books to the gazebo, warmed by the bukhari. Each room is equipped with modern bathrooms and a continuous supply of hot and cold water, ensuring a rejuvenating stay.

Once Upon a Diner, the in-house restaurant, offers a menu bursting with flavors and unforgettable dishes. From North Indian and Himachali delicacies to comforting Indo-Chinese, pastas, pizzas, and an all-day sham ka nashta, there’s something for every craving. And no meal would be complete without a sweet finish- indulge in homemade ice creams and decadent desserts that will leave you longing for more. Guests come for the flavors, stay for the atmosphere, and leave with full hearts (and stomachs) and memories that last a lifetime.

For those eager to explore, The Forest Edge is surrounded by endless adventures. Trek through breathtaking trails, enjoy peaceful nature walks, try your hand at trout fishing in crystal-clear waters, cross rivers, go birdwatching, or simply unwind with a picnic in the lush meadows. The valley offers something for everyone—an outdoor lover’s paradise where unforgettable memories are waiting to be made. What began as a simple retreat for friends has blossomed into something much more. For local children, it’s a space to read, create, and embrace the joy of childhood. For travelers, it’s a sanctuary to heal, find inner peace, and reconnect with nature. Come, be part of this journey—stay, explore, and write your own chapter at The Forest Edge.
