About the property:
Set against the Aravallis, Chez Lavania feels like a little secret in Udaipur -quiet, personal and wonderfully removed from the pace of the city.
Tucked away in the serene Sisarama Valley, this 11,000 sq. ft. boutique retreat looks out towards the Aravalli Hills and the iconic Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace. Personally owned and hosted by Mr. Manish and Mrs. Niharika Lavania, the property brings a more personal side of luxury to Udaipur, where warm Indian hospitality, thoughtful details and genuine connection take centre stage. Guests are welcomed like old friends, with the Lavanias sharing local stories, insider recommendations and glimpses into the culture and character of Rajasthan.
With just eight rooms, Chez Lavania keeps things intimate and unhurried. Guests can choose from three Pool View Rooms, three Aravalli Hill View Rooms, a Private Balcony Room and a Twin Room with Garden View. Each accommodates up to three guests, offering a comfortable retreat to return to after a day spent discovering the city. At Chez Lavania, the experience goes beyond the stay. Thoughtfully curated experiences bring together local culture, good food, slow moments and the warmth of Rajasthani hospitality- giving guests plenty of ways to experience Udaipur at their own pace.
From Farm-to-Folk Dining featuring authentic Rajasthani and home-style cuisine to a Gala Dinner Under the Stars with candlelight and Indian classical music, evenings here can be made wonderfully memorable. Guests can also discover the artistry of Rajasthan through a Pichwai Art Experience or explore the centuries-old Molela Terracotta tradition, where local artisans create clay plaques depicting folk deities and stories from Rajasthan’s cultural heritage.
For a deeper connection with the city, the Heritage Walk takes you through Udaipur’s historic streets, hidden temples, old havelis and colourful bazaars, while Curated Udaipur Sightseeing offers personalised recommendations covering palaces, lakes, temples and a boat ride on Lake Pichola. For those who prefer to explore at a slower pace, Cycling Through the Countryside winds through village roads, lush landscapes and the Aravalli foothills. There is also plenty of time to simply pause. Reconnect with yourself through Yoga and Meditation, unwind with an Evening Bonfire under the stars, or spend a leisurely afternoon by the Infinity Pool, taking in the peaceful Aravalli landscape. Whether it’s discovering local art, sharing a long dinner under the stars or simply watching the hills from the pool, Chez Lavania’s experiences are designed to make your time in Udaipur feel personal, meaningful and memorable.
Dining here carries the warmth of a home kitchen. From Niharika’s kitchen comes a thoughtfully curated selection of traditional North Indian and regional delicacies, freshly prepared with a distinctly homestyle touch. Meals are served at Rendezvous Restaurant, overlooking the pool, while evenings can be enjoyed poolside. The kitchen is vegetarian, with eggs also available.
There is plenty of space to simply switch off. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, spend a quiet afternoon in the garden or settle into the lounge and library with a book. The library also doubles as a peaceful workspace, although the setting might convince you to put the laptop away altogether. Framed by open spaces, intimate corners and views of the Aravallis, the property makes it easy to settle into a slower rhythm. And when you’re ready to explore, Udaipur’s most memorable sights are within easy reach. Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace is just 10 minutes away and particularly magical around sunset, while Lake Pichola, with its heritage boat rides, is around 15 minutes from the property. The City Palace is a 15–20 minute drive, while Gangaur Ghat makes for a lovely evening stroll along the lake. Fateh Sagar is ideal for café hopping and sunset views, while the quieter Badi Lake offers a peaceful escape surrounded by the Aravallis. For sweeping valley views, head to Raita Hills, just 15 minutes away.
At its heart, Chez Lavania is about being genuinely looked after. Come for the Aravalli views, linger over home-style meals, discover Udaipur through the eyes of your hosts, and let the days unfold at their own pace.
